We are very pleased to share an important milestone for one of our projects. On September 18–19, 2026, Holy Archangel Michael Skete in Weatherby, Missouri, will hold its annual pilgrimage and a special ceremony marking the formal founding of its future Orthodox church.
We are especially proud that this new church is being built according to our architectural design. After many months of planning, study, and development, the project is approaching the moment when an architectural idea begins its transformation into a real sacred building. In September, the site that we have known through drawings, plans, and renderings will be formally dedicated for the future church.
The central event will take place on Saturday, September 19, following Matins and the Divine Liturgy. His Beatitude Metropolitan Longin will preside over the Order for the Founding and the Erection of the Cross for the new church. The ceremony will be held as part of the monastery’s annual pilgrimage and celebration.
The pilgrimage begins on Friday, September 18, with Vespers at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Matins and Divine Liturgy begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the rite for the founding of the new church and the erection of the Cross. Lunch and a tour of the monastery will follow.

For us as designers, moments like this carry particular meaning. Orthodox church architecture develops through many stages: the first discussions with a community, study of the site, development of the liturgical plan, proportions and exterior character, technical coordination, and eventually construction. The erection of the Cross marks a transition from design toward the physical life of the building and the community that will worship within it.
